Banjaras should come under one reservation category: Nayak

Union Tourism Minister Shripad Nayak today underlined the need for bringing Banjaras under one reservation category.

Inaugurating the Durga Devi fair at Somadevanhatti, 20 km from here, he said Banjaras at present get reservation facility in some states under various categories.

They should be brought under one reservation category in the whole state by considering their demand, he said, adding he would personally try to influence the Union government in this connection and urged others for cooperation.

Banjaras were educationally backward, he said and added that efforts are needed to uplift them with proper measures.

Karnataka Labour Minister Parmeshwar Nayak who spoke on the occasion, said Banjaras need social security as they are financially weak. In this connection the Union government should implement special schemes for them, he said.
