The branch manager of a nationalised bank and a medicine wholesale trader were detained by CBI at Mal in Jalpaiguru district today.
A top district police officer said Dinesh Kumar, manager of the nationalised bank, and Samar Debnath, a wholesale trader of medicines, were detained by the sleuths following allegations of them having amassed cash from loan applications through commission.
Kumar used to be introduced to loan applicants at Mal branch by Debnath and the duo got commissions - according to the complaints received by the premier probe agency, the officer said.
An official of the bank said, the duo were detained and taken to Siliguri and the bank had no further intimation.
