Bank manager, cashier get 3 yr jail for embezzlement of cash

A special CBI court in Jodhpur today sentenced three years imprisonment to two officials, including the branch manager, of a bank for misappropriation of Rs 35.50 lakh and falsification of bank records.

The special judge also slapped a fine of Rs 71,000 on convicts Khemraj Parmer, then branch manager, and Kachru Lal Gameti, then cashier, both working at the Bawalwari Branch of Mewar Aanchalik Gramin Bank in Udaipur, according to an official statement released here.

The case was registered by the CBI in April 2008 on complaint by the bank chairman against the duo for causing loss of Rs 35.50 lakhs (approx) to the bank.
 

The trial court found both the accused guilty and convicted them for criminal conspiracy, falsification of accounts and Prevention of Corruption Act, the statement said.
