Bank manager kidnapped, rescued within four hours

A branch manager of a nationalised bank was kidnapped by unidentified persons in West Singhbhum district but was rescued within four hours, a senior police officer said today.

Ashish Gupta, branch manager of Bank of India, Gua branch in West Singhbhum district, was returning home in Manoharpur after duty around 8.30 pm on Thursday when identified persons allegedly kidnapped him near Bokna village, Superintendent of Police, Anish Gupta said.

The abductors have demanded Rs 15 lakhs for his safe release, the SP said.

Gupta was rescued within four hours of the kidnapping late last night, the SP said adding that two suspected abductors were taken into custody for interrogation.
