Armed assailants today shot dead the manager of a bank in Darbhanga district today, police sources said.
At around 10 am when manager of the Bhalpatti branch of Uttar Bihar Kshetriya Gramin Bank, Vijay Kumar Jha, was opening the gates of the bank, four persons riding on two motorcycles came and fired indiscriminately at him, the sources said.
Jha who hails from Jhanjharpur in Madhubani district, slumped to the ground and died on the spot, they said.

Angry villagers demonstrated with the body of the bank manager. They blocked the roads around Bhalpatti disrupting traffic movement.
The road blockade continued for around four hours. It was lifted after senior police officers reached the spot and assured the villagers of proper investigation and action in the case.
Darbhanga SSP Kumar Ekle said, "We are investigating the murder from all angles. Raids are being conducted to trace the criminals. We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
