The famous Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan has been receiving hundreds of thousands of rakhis from woman devotees across the country on the eve Raksha Bandhan.

Not only the devotees are sending rakhis, but they are also mailing letters seeking blessings from Lord Krishna.

Umesh Saraswat, Assistant Manager of the temple, said the rakhis started arriving from August 10 and will continue till August 29, the day 'Raksha Bandhan' would be celebrated.

Besides, the devotees are also sending items used in the ritual like -- 'roli' (holy thread), rice, sweets, beetlenuts, he said.

Treating the Lord as their beloved brother, the devotees are also sending letters to Banke Bihari with messages accompanied with the rakhis, Saraswat said today.

The temple administration would present these items along with the rakhis to Lord Krishna on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, he added.
