Banned medicinal herb seized, one arrested

Police today arrested a person and recovered 10 kg of banned rare medicinal herb 'Nag Chhatri' from him in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a vehicle near Malikpora and during search 10 kg of Nag Chhatri was recovered, a police official said, adding that, Mohd Ashraf, who was driving the vehicle was also arrested.

A case has been registered and probe is on in the matter, he said.

Nag Chhatri (Trillium govanianum), a rare herb, is in great demand in the international market for its medicinal use and is found in abundance in the Kailash mountains of Bhaderwah region in the state.
