The body of the Chief Engineer who went missing after the barge in which he along with seven workers set sail, sank off the Nagapattinam coast on Friday, was washed ashore near here today.
The mutilated body of Ranjith Singh was washed ashore near Akkaraipettai in the district this afternoon.
The barge carrying 60 tonnes of essential commodities and diesel to a ship engaged in exploration activities off Nagapattinam coast sank into the sea five nautical miles from here.
Indian Coast Guard personnel from Karaikal had rescued seven workers.
