Barley prices were down by Rs 3 to Rs 1,391.50 per quintal in futures trade today after traders lightened their holdings.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, barley for delivery in April eased by Rs 3, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 1,391.50 per quintal, in an open interest of 6,230 lots.

Also, the commodity for delivery in far-month May edged lower by Rs 1.50, or 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,410 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,890 lots.

Marketmen said reducing positions by speculators mainly led to the fall in barley prices at futures trade here.
