Barley futures up as speculators creates fresh position

Barley prices improved by Rs 19 to Rs 1,592.50 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators were accumulating positions in line with emerging physical markets.

Marketmen said building up of positions by participants, triggered by a firm trend at the physical markets on strong demand against tight supplies mainly influenced barley prices in futures trade here.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery this month rose by Rs 19 or 1.21 per cent to Rs 1,592.50 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 2,660 lots.

Also, delivery in November increased by Rs 18 or 1.11 per cent to Rs 1,640 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,960 lots.
