Barley trades higher on pickup in demand

Barring rise in barley prices on pickup in demand from consuming industries, other grains held steady at the wholesale grain market today in the absence of any worthwhile activity.

Traders said pickup in demand from consuming industries amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly helped barley to trade higher.

In the national capital, barley moved up by Rs 10 to Rs 1,330-1,340 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (desi) 2,350-2,700, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,600-1,605, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,610-1,615, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti Bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 850-860 (50 kg), Maida 920-930 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 5,300-5,500, Rice Pusa (1121) 4,100-5,400, Permal raw 1,675-1,725, Permal wand 1,840-1,860, Sela 2,250-2,350 and Rice IR-8 1,600-1,616, Bajra 1,330-1,335, Jowar yellow 1,600-1,700, white 3,000-3,100, Maize 1,450-1,455, Barley 1,330-1,340.
