Barley weakens on reduced offtake

Barley prices dropped by Rs 30 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today on reduced offtake by consuming industtries against adequate stocks position.

However, other grains held steady on scattered support.

Traders said reduced offtake from consuming industries against sufficient supplies mainly kept pressure on barley prices.

In the national capital, barley fell by Rs 30 to Rs 1,400-1,410 per quintal.

The following were today's quotations per quintal:

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,100-2,300, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,570-1,575, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,575-1,580 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 875-885 (50 kg), Maida 940-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,020-1,040 (50kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 9,200-9,500, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 8,200-9,900, Permal raw 2,200-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,350, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,320-1,330, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,530, white 2,350-2,560, Maize 1,435-1,440, Barley 1,400-1,410, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
