Barmunda bus stand to be renovated

Odisha government today decided to renovate the existing Baramunda bus-stand here into an ultra-modern inter-state bus terminal at an investment of Rs 180 crore, official sources said.

Chief Secretary A P Padhi at a review meeting directed officials to complete the contract agreement for renovation of the bus stand by June 30 and complete work within 15 months, they said.

The work is slated to begin next month on Public- Private Partnership (PPP) mode. Padhi also informed that the tender formalities are under process while detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared.

Though the partner for the project is yet to be finalised, land has been demarcated near Khandagiri hill area for an ad-hoc bus stand where buses will be parked till the completion of the work at Baramunda bus-stand.

 

Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, OSRTC CMD KB Singh and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) vice-chairman Dr Krishan Kumar also attended the meeting.
