Bhowanipore also appointed former Mohun Bagan coach and Brazilian Robson Mattos to be at the helm of affairs at the club for which the squad would be announced later.
"It's time to move forward. They approached me first and I readily accepted. They have a vision to move ahead," Barreto said at a programme in the club tent.
The former Mohun Bagan stalwart, who was presented his favourite number 10 jersey, said he would be fully committed to his new club.
"It's a fine opportunity for me. I will give my 100 per cent. The main target is to take the club to I-League. Hope we achieve it," he said.
Asked how would he feel when his new team takes on Mohun Bagan in the CFL, Barreto said, "I'm a professional. All goals I score will be important for me and the club."
