Base metals decline on low demand

Nickel, select copper, brass, zinc and lead prices declined at the non-ferrous metal market here today on selling by stockists amidst lower demand from alloy industries.

Globally, LME copper was trading steady in early trade and held above last week's four-and-a-half-year low, as focus shifted to China's trade data due to be released later in the day for further cues from the world's top user of metals.

Nickel dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,140 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 1,145.

Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar fell by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs 474 and Rs 502 from Rs 478 and Rs 506.
 

Brass sheet cutting eased by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 335 as against Rs 338.

Copper scrap heavy and copper sheet cutting moved down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 466 and Rs 446 from Rs 468 and Rs 448.

Copper utensils scrap, zinc and lead softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 428, Rs 182 and Rs 135, respectively.

Aluminium utensils scrap inched up by a Re per kg to Rs 137.
