Base metals decline on low demand, global cues

Most of the base metals prices declined at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists selling amidst lower demand from industrial users.

Meanwhile, select copper, brass and aluminium moved up on good offtake from consumer industries.

The industrial metals dropped at the LME, for a second session, with commodity prices under pressure after the US government shutdown.

Nickel fell by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,010 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 1,015.

Copper cables scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper armature and copper wire bar moved down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 508, Rs 500, Rs 490 and Rs 536 from Rs 510, Rs 502, Rs 492 and Rs 538, respectively.
 

Copper utensils scrap, zinc and lead softened by Re 1 per kg each to Rs 464, Rs 161 and Rs 129.

However, aluminium ingots climbed by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 151 from Rs 148.

Brass sheet cutting moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 357 from Rs 355 and copper sheet cutting inched-up by a rupee per kg to Rs 485.
