Base metals drop on selling, global cues

Most base metals prices dropped at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists selling amidst subdued demand from industrial users.

On the global front, the industrial metal copper was flat in early trade as a week-long holiday in China blunted interest, while comments by the chief of commodities giant Glencore flagging looming supply cuts failed to spur buying.

Tin and nickel declined by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 1,165 and Rs 820 from Monday's closing level of Rs 1,170 and Rs 825.

Copper scrap heavy and brass sheet cuttings edged down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 405 and Rs 307 as compared to Rs 407 and Rs 309 yesterday.
 

Copper cable scrap, copper armiture, copper wire bar and zinc also softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 411, Rs 399, Rs 439 and Rs 149 respectively.
