Base metals' prices advance on firm demand

Prices of most of the base metals, including copper, zinc, lead, tin and nickel advanced further at the non-ferrous metal market here today following stockists' buying amid firm demand from industrial users.

Tin and nickel prices spurted by Rs 25 per kg each to Rs 1,475 and Rs 980 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 1,450 and Rs 955, respectively.

Zinc climbed by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 239 from Rs 232.

Copper cables scrap, copper scrap heavy and copper billets rose up by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 459, Rs 453 and Rs 487 as against Rs 456, Rs 450 and Rs 484, respectively.

 

Lead and copper utensils scrap moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 167 and Rs 422 from Rs 165 and 420 earlier.

However, brass sheet cutting softened by a Re per kg to Rs 355.
