Base metals recover on global cues, domestic demand

Select base metal prices recovered by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today largely on a firm trend overseas amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries.

Traders said firm trend overseas after China released data showing the first rise in factory gate prices for more than four years, influenced metals prices.

They said uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market also supported the uptrend.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) recovered by Rs 2 each to Rs 360 and Rs 820-825 per kg, respectively.

Lead ingot and lead imported also enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 87 and Rs 93 per kg, respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 100-106, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 820-825, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 360, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 87, lead imported Rs 93, aluminium ingots Rs 158, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 154, aluminium wire scrap Rs 154 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 152.
