Base metals remain up on rising demand, global cues

Select base metal prices advanced by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on persistent buying by stockists on the back of strong demand from consuming industries amid firm global trend.

Traders said persistent buying by stockists, driven by rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market and a firm trend overseas where copper surged to 4- month high, mainly kept select base metal prices higher.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) advanced by Rs 2 each to Rs 354 and Rs 790-800 per kg, respectively. Lead ingot and lead imported also enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 96 and Rs 102 per kg respectively.
 

Zinc ingot too edged up by Rs 2 to Rs 104-110 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 104-110, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 790-800, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 354, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 96, lead imported Rs 102, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
