Base metals slide on low demand, global cues

Prices of select base metals drifted lower by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today following sluggish demand from consuming industries at domestic market amid a weak trend overseas.

Traders said, besides fall in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, a weak trend in base metals in global market mainly led to the decline in select base metal prices.

Globally, zinc for delivery in three month fell 0.5 per cent at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingot and copper mixed scrap were down by Rs 2 each to Rs 108-114 and Rs 355 per kg, respectively.
 

Lead ingot and lead imported also enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 89 and Rs 95 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 108-114, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 813-818, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 355, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 89, lead imported Rs 95, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
