Base metals surge on good industrial demand

Base metals prices surged at the non-ferrous metal market here today on hectic stockist buying amidst rising industrial demand.

The industrial metals were slightly up at the LME on after minutes from a Federal Reserve meeting offered little clarity, while focus shifted to impending data on China's factory activity.

Copper scrap heavy climbed by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 507 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 501.

Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar, copper sheet cutting and zinc gained by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 517, Rs 545, Rs 489 and Rs 162 from Rs 512, Rs 540, Rs 484 and Rs 157.
 

Copper utensil scrap and brass sheet cutting added by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs 465 and Rs 354 from Rs 461 and Rs 350.

Copper armature and brass utensils scrap moved up by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 492 and Rs 344 from Rs 489 and Rs 341.

Aluminium ingots also went up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 155 from Rs 153.

Aluminium utensils scrap and lead inched-up by Re 1 per kg each to Rs 125 and Rs 132, respectively.
