Base metals up on global cues

Base metal prices rose by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metal market today on emergence of buying by stockists, tracking a firm global trend.

Traders said sentiment turned better after base metals rose in global markets amid speculation demand will be sustained as trade data from China, the biggest user, beat expectations and Premier Li Keqiang said the nation sees growth this year hitting its 7.5 per cent target.

Meanwhile, copper advanced 0.7 per cent to USD 6,689 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) moved up Rs 2 each to Rs 433 and Rs 1,090-1,096 per kg, respectively.
 

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also enquired higher by the same margin to Rs 118-124, Rs 109 and Rs 107 per kg respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,090-1,096, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 433, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 109, Lead imported 107, Aluminium ingots 166, Aluminium sheet cutting 167, Aluminium wire scrap 169 and Aluminium utensils scrap 166.
