Basil Advisors acquires TGC Consulting

Consumer internet-focussed talent advisory firm Basil Advisors today said it has acquired Bengaluru-based human capital consulting TGC Consulting for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will enhance Basil Advisors' footprint beyond consumer internet vertical, it said in a statement.

"At this point, we feel we are in a position where we can start focusing on creating a horizontal global presence... This is where TGC Consulting comes in. They have an interesting nucleus of evolved impact customers and have experimented very successfully with variety, result orientation and strong customer delight," Basil Advisors Founder and CEO Prateek Srivastava said.

Freecharge partners Haldirams

* Digital payments firm Freecharge today said it has partnered food outlet chain Haldirams, a move that will help the former's wallet be accepted across 41 outlets in 11 cities.

"Haldirams is already an integral part of people's lives. Through this association, we aim to help Haldirams streamline its payment processes and move away from managing cash and truly go digital," Freecharge CEO Govind Rajan said.

The partnership will help Freecharge expand its offline footprint and enable over two million consumers on a monthly basis from tier I and II cities be part of digital payments ecosystems, he added.

Ola Share supports in reducing CO2 emission level * Taxi aggregator Ola today said its shared ride product, Ola Share, has helped bring down CO2 emission levels by 12,90,636 kilograms in Delhi.

Also, 5,37,768 litres of fuel has been saved because of users opting for shared rides on the Ola platform across the city, Ola said in a statement.

"Shared mobility is the future of transportation in India and Ola Share has enabled citizens to share their rides and pay only a fraction of the actual trip cost while contributing towards reduction in vehicular pollution and congestion in their city," Ola Head of Categories and CMO Raghuvesh Sarup said.
Flock eyes 1 mn users by next year

* Communication and collaboration app Flock aims to garner about one million users in the next one year, with the American market accounting for about 60-70 per cent of the number.

The company, which is foraying into the US market with a new update to the software, is also lining up marketing budget of USD 10-15 million for the new app.

"Flock 2.0 introduces major modifications to its core design and features, the biggest being introduction of 'Teams'. It puts team communication at the centre of the offering," Flock founder and CEO Bhavin Turakhia said.

Alterna Care raises USD 500K from Eros Labs * AlternaCare, a technology-driven healthcare platform, has raised USD 500,000 in seed funding from Eros Labs.

AlternaCare provides remote consultations to patients through both instant and scheduled options over multiple platforms. It started operations in January and launched its product in April 2016 and claims to be revenue positive.

"With this round of funding, Alternacare intends to invest extensively in product development, building out its team, branding within its relevant target audience, and geographic expansion into key language markets," it said in a statement.

The digital healthcare market in India is valued at more than USD 1 billion as is set to cross the USD 2 billion mark by 2020.

Vuclip appoints Nish Bhutani as Global Product Head * Vuclip, a video-on-demand service provider, today said it has appointed former Myntra executive Nish Bhutani as its Global Product Head as it looks to expand its footprint in India, Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa.

In his new role, Bhutani will lead product innovation and operations to grow the monthly subscriber base, increase user traffic and build engagement, Vuclip said in a statement.

Bhutani has 25 years of experience and has worked in companies like Oracle, CNET Networks and online auction-house Saffronart. Prior to Vuclip, he worked as Senior Vice President of Content at fashion e-commerce major Myntra.

Corporate recruiter demand for MBAs sees significant rise * Around 88 per cent of corporate recruiters who work directly with graduate business schools plan to hire recent MBA graduates this year, up eight percentage points from last year, says a report.

According to a global survey report by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), management graduates recruitment plans has increased 33 percentage points since post recession low in 2010.

Asked for the first time about their hiring plans for graduates of other non-MBA business master's programs, about a quarter of corporate recruiters report plans to hire graduates from Master of Supply Chain Management (27 per cent of respondents), Master of Data Analytics (26 per cent), and Master of Marketing (24 per cent) programs.
