West Bengal government today appointed Basudeb Banerjee as the State Chief Information Commissioner, following his retirement as the state Chief Secretary on June 30.
The government also appointed Additional Chief Secretary Malay Kumar De as the new Chief Secretary.
A government notification issued today said Banerjee will be the State Chief Information Commissioner on his retirement as Chief Secretary on June 30 and continue at the post for five years or till he attains the age of 65 years, which ever is earlier.
De will be taking charge as the new Chief Secretary on June 30 itself, the notification said.
