Batch of 470 pilgrims leave for Amarnath cave from Jammu

A small batch consisting of a mere 470 pilgrims today left for the twin base camps of Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

A total of 470 pilgrims including 395 men and 75 women left in a cavalcade of 14 vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the two base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir at 12.30 PM today, a police official said.

As many as 2,512 devotees paid obeisance at the holy cave yesterday and a total of 2,07,842 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the shrine till date

The Yatra which started on July 2 this year, entered the 27th day today. It was suspended thrice in the wake of unrest in the Valley following the killing Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani in an encounter on July 8 with security forces.
