Concerned over the Delhi High Court's direction to stop e-rickshaw from plying in Delhi, a delegation of Battery Rickshaw Sangh will meet Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and take up the matter before him.
"A delegation will meet Gadkari who had promised to us that e-rickshaws would not be banned in Delhi. The central government should come forward to save our livelihood," Jai Bhagwan, national convener of Battery Rickshaw Sangh, said.
The Delhi High Court today directed the city government to stop erickshaws from plying on the roads of the national capital "as of now".
In June, Gadkari had announced battery-operated rickshaws would not be barred from plying in the national capital and they would be considered as non-motorised vehicles.
