A dacoit of the "Bavaria gang" carrying a reward of Rs 30,000 on his head was arrested today after a brief encounter in this district, police said.
Rakesh Bavaria alias Babli, who had involvements in many robbery cases, was arrested today they said, adding that he used to operate with other members of the gang in Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Firozabad and Etah.
Bavaria gang is a nomadic tribe largely involved in robbery, theft and dacoity.
Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna told that a drive was launched to nab the notorious criminals in the district.
Based on a tip-off, Loni border police arrested a suspect today. He was later identified as Rakesh Bavarian, who was living in Shanti Nagar colony under the Vijay nagar police station.
Firozabad and Etah police had declared a reward of Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively, on tip leading to his arrest.

He had been absconding for the last one year and was living here stealthily.
The arrested accused, along with his associates, used to kill those resisting robbery bids. He was wanted in the cases of dacoity-cum-murder, Krishna said.
A .315 bore country-made pistol with one live and another used cartridges were recovered from his possession, the SSP said, adding the accused will be handed over to Firozabad and Etah police for prosecution.
