BC, Minority devt corp to distribute loans to members

Puducherry State Corporation for Development of Backward Classes and Minorities, a Puducherry Government Undertaking, has chalked out a plan to distribute Rs 10 crores during the current fiscal (2014-15) to members belonging to backward classes and minority community.

Chief Minister, N Rangasamy said in a release today that Rs five crore would be dispersed under education loan towards higher education of students of these groups.

The Corporation would disburse the remaining Rs five crore to the members of the BCs and minority community to enable them to launch self employment projects, he said, adding, low rate of interest would be levied for the loans.
 

Rangasamy said the Corporation had disbursed Rs 20 crore since its inception in 2000 and till 2013, for the Backward classes either under education loan or for self employment projects.

It had also disbursed Rs 12 crores to the minorities during this period, he said.

As a highlight of celebrating the Teacher's day (September 5), 250 students were presented education loan totalling Rs one crore out of funds earmarked for the current fiscal.
