BCCI confirms Manohar's resignation

The BCCI today accepted and confirmed Shashank Manohar's resignation from the post of President, acknowledging the "contribution" made by the senior cricket administrator in running the game during his tenure.

Manohar, whose term was to end in September 2017, has quit as he is all set become the first independent ICC Chairman.

"The BCCI confirms that Mr. Shashank Manohar has resigned from the post of President, BCCI. He has also resigned as the BCCI representative on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council," BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur said in a press release.

"The BCCI places on record its deep appreciation of the immense contribution to Indian cricket made by Mr. Manohar," the release stated further.
