The impasse at the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) in Nadia district was resolved Saturday after West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee held talks with all stakeholders.
Chatterjee asked the authorities to allow the students stay at the hostels and ensure that classes begin from early next week.
Earlier in the day, the university authorities have declared indefinite suspension of classes and ordered the students to vacate the hostels with immediate effect.
A top university official said they were hopeful about resuming classes from Tuesday next.
Chatterjee, who met senior university officials and students, told reporters at Kalyani that the decision of the authorities to snap electricity and water supply to hostels from Friday night was unfortunate and those would have to be restored on an urgent basis.
Following this, Registrar Jayanta Saha said the hostels would be opened for students with immediate effect and the facilities restored.

On allegations that outsiders entered the campus on the night of September 12 and assaulted the students including girls, Chatterjee said, "No visitor will be allowed to enter the campus without permission."
He said the entire campus needed to be brought under CCTV coverage and the number of security personnel will be increased.
The developments took place two days after Vice Chancellor Dharani Dhar Patra was gheraoed by students for over 24 hours on September 13, demanding his resignation.
The VC had fallen ill during gherao on September 13 evening and was allowed to leave the chamber by the students.
The agitating students were demonstrating inside the campus since September 7 demanding the removal of Dean (Agriculture) Srikanth Das and Dean (Students Welfare) Goutam Chakraborty for some alleged irregularities.
They had demanded that VC should be back in the office on September 14 and meet them to discuss the issue of taking action against the Dean (Agriculture) Srikanth Das and Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Goutam Chakraborty for some alleged irregularities, a representative of the organisation said.
The students also demanded the VC's resignation blaming him for the alleged attack on them by outsiders.
Patra, who did not return to office since September 13, was admitted to a hospital on Saturday as he complained of uneasiness, a family member told reporters.
The VC, who was earlier gheraoed for 24 hours in his office on September 7, was not present at the meeting with the education minister.
