BCTP asks advocates to subscribe to BCI Advocates Welfare Fund

The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today said advocates who have failed to subscribe to the Bar Council of India Advocates Welfare Fund (BCIAWF) will not only be suspended till they make the payment, but also become ineligible to vote or contest in the election.

Addressing reporters here with regard to the arrears of subscription towards BCIAWF to be paid, Advocate General Vijay Narayan, also Chairman of the Special Committee of the BCTP said as far as electoral rolls are concerned, the BCTP found that 9,249 lawyers, enrolled before 1993, have not subscribed to BCIAWF.

The BCTP has asked them to subscribe and become members of the BCIAWF.

The lawyers can verify it and make the payment, he added.
