BDA senior assistant caught while taking bribe

A senior assistant of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) was arrested by Odisha's anti-corruption vigilance wing for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a man to process file for issuing him NOC.

A trap was laid following which Bijaya Ketan Bramha, senior assistant in the Planning Section of BDA was arrested by Vigilance Officers here yesterday while accepting the bribe money from complainant Sanatan Dalabehera, a vigilance release said.

Balabehera of Talagada in Balianta near here had applied for installing a fly ash bricks industry at Bhubanapur to General Manager of District Industries Centre, Bhubaneswar, which was approved, it said.
 

His application for lease for the above industry was also approved by the Collector of Khurda district in 2010. The Collector, Khurda sought for the NOC from the Planning Member, BDA for final allotment of lease land as the lease area was under the jurisdiction of BDA, Bhubaneswar, the release said.

Bramha demanded Rs 3,000 on August 27 for processing of the file for issue of NOC after which Dalabehera reported the matter to Vigilance, it said.

A trap was laid yesterday in the office room of the accused in BDA, Bhubaneswar and when Bramha was receiving the bribe from the complainant, he was caught red handed by the Vigilance, it said.

The money was recovered from his possession and investigation was on.
