BDFA enters Bihar Cup semis

Bangaluru District Football Association (BDFA) stormed into the semi-finals of the 3rd All India Football Tournament for the Bihar Cup beating Kolkata's Peerless Football Club 2-1 in a quarterfinal tie at the Moin-Ul-haque stadium here today.

Striker K Gopi scored a brace for the winners while Deniel Eze struck a consolation goal for the Kolkata outfit.

Earlier, BDFA players began on a brisk note and in the 15th minute, Gopi, collecting a cross from Arun Pandey put the Banglore team in the lead.

Fourteen minutes later, Gopi doubled the tally with a solo effort to give a decisive lead to the Bangalore side.
 

The Peerless Football Club, however, reduced the margin with Eze striking in the 44th minute.

The second-half witnessed a competitive football with both missing several opportunities.

Partha Sarkar, Devayan Saha and Munna Mallick missed easy changes for the Kolkata outfit, while Gopi frittered away a hat-trick chance missing a 78th minute penalty with Peerless custodian Sanjay Singh making a valiant save.

Xaviar Vijay Kumar and Arun Pandey of BDFA too missed sitters.
