BDO among three booked for corruption in Indira Awas yojna

An FIR has been lodged against three persons, including a Block Development Officer (BDO), for allegedly accepting bribe money in Indira Awas Yojna in Bihar's East Champaran district.

On the direction of District Magistrate Vinay Kumar, the FIR has been registered against Banjaria BDO Sanjeet Kumar, member of block samiti Vindhyanchal Prasad Yadav and Manager of Phulwar branch of Allahabad yesterday, official sources said.

They have been charged for taking Rs 2000 each from 55 beneficiaries under the scheme in 2012.

With many beneficiaries filing complaints, a probe was ordered by the previous District Magistrate.

Under Indira Awas Yojna a beneficiary gets Rs 45,000 to constructing a house.
