BDO assaulted by woman 'mukhiya' in Bihar

A Block Development Officer (BDO) was badly beaten up, allegedly by a woman village head and her supporters, in Bihar's Aurangabad district over complaint of irregularities in Indira Awas Yojna implementation.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Rafiganj police station Harendra Kumar said the village head of Sihuli Panchayat Parmila Devi, joined by her husband, father-in-law and supporters arrived in the office of the BDO Anil Kumar and allegedly thrashed him badly shouting slogans against irregularities in preparation of final list of Indira Awas Yojna beneficiaries.

The injured BDO has been shifted to a local hospital for treatment, he said.

The village head and her supporters fled from the area after the incident.
 

On the basis of the statement of the BDO, an FIR against Devi and her supporters has been lodged in the local police station.
