BDO held on bribery charge

A block development officer in the district was today arrested for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 for an official favour, police said.

K Sundararajan, BDO of Sankari, was detained by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption DSP Chandramouli while accepting the money in his office.

President of Theyvannagoundampalayam Panchayat Poomali had approached the BDO recently seeking an estimate for availing funds under a welfare scheme when the latter demanded Rs 10,000 bribe, the DSP said.

He lodged a complaint with DVAC following which a trap was laid and the BDO was arrested while receiving the cash, he added.
 

Sundararajan was produced before Special Judge (anti- corruption) S.Mohan who remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.
