Doctors need to be true to their patients and strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India, Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam today said.
Inaugurating the Indian Medical Association's National South Zone's two-day Conference "NATSZ GPCON 2016" here, he said unethical approach of some hospitals and medical practioners were responsible for people believing against modern medical practices and medicines.
"In their ambition to become super speciality hospitals, some small and medium hospitals follow unethical practices with the help of medical practioners, resulting in general public believing against modern medical practices and medicines," he said.

"In view of more public awarenessyoushould have to be true to your patients", he said suggesting that the medical fraternity should strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
Talking about doctors working in public sector hospitals, he said they have to attend 150-200 patients during their working hours. If something goes wrong, they were forced to face the public wrath and sometimes being manhandled by violent mobs.
The IMA should address these issues and frame better medical policies, the Governor said.
To participate, colleges and universities selected a team of
three to five students to determine the best solution for a management accounting case. Student teams submitted their case analysis which went through a preliminary evaluation. The top eight teams were selected and called to present their case to a panel of judges. Finalist teams included Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, Pune; Christ University, Bangalore; Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras; Jain College, Bangalore; Manav Rachna International University, Haryana; and Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune.
"First, we started attacking the case until we knew the whole case by heart. Then, we made a list of high priority issues and possible problems and concentrated on them one by one," stated Aditya Sudhir Shelar when asked how the BMCC team prepared for the competition. "This case study was an excellent opportunity to test our theoretical knowledge into the practical world. It also helped us develop a manager's perspective towards problem solving, and decision making." Meanwhile, the team from Ethiraj College for Women in Chennai emerged as the first runner-up while the team from Pune's Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce won the second runner-up.
"This competition has been a great learning experience. We learned how to present our ideas and views with confidence and conviction. This is our biggest take away from the event," stated Niveditha K, one of the team members from Ethiraj College for Women.
The winning teams received US$1500, US$1000, and US$500 respectively. In addition to the monetary award, the members of the top three teams will have an opportunity to receive CMA(R) [http://www.Imanet.Org/cma-certification ] (Certified Management Accountant) scholarships worth US$850 each.
