Goa tourism minister Manohar Ajgaonkar today announced that the allotment of beach shacks would be conducted between September 4 and 20.
He said the process is being done early this year so that the beach shack operators get ample time to set up the shops before the tourists begin arriving.
Last year, the process had begun after Diwali.

Ajgaonkar said, "Theshack allotmentprocess forthe season 2017-18 is scheduled to beginfrom 4th September 4 and will be completed by September 20."
The process for allotment of shacks for the tourism season 2017-18 is expedited so that the operators will have a full season to conduct business unlike the previous years, he added.
"I havedirected the Departmentof Tourism tocomplete theentire shack allotmentprocessin time before the tourism season commences. It will be time-bound and the department will ensure that shack operatorscomply with all the requisite documentsand formalities,so that the shack operations commence in a smooth manner," he said.
Ajgaonkar has also appealed to the beach shack operatorstocomply with all environmentalrequirements so thatcleanlinessandhygiene is maintained on the beaches.
He has also directedtheshack operatorsnot to violate any rules or regulations and toconduct business in an authorisedmanner.
