Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi today said beach tourism projects in four villages nearby would be developed at a cost of Rs 80 crore under a centrally-sponsored programme.
The projects in Chinna Veerampattinam, Chunnambar, Nallavadu and Manape villages would go on stream next year, she said in a release after her visit to these hamlets
All infrastructure like approach roads, huts and gallery, among other amenities, would be provided, she said, adding that the Tourism department was on the right track to develop the union territory from being a weekend to a week-long tourist destination.
Besides, the territorial administration would promote heritage, rural and spiritual tourism too, Bedi said.
Tourism projects would provide jobs to the rural youth and earn revenue for the government, she said.
