Bear in Van Vihar dies

A female bear died in

the Van Vihar National Park here after a prolonged illness, official sources said today.

The post-mortem report of the 32-year-old bear revealed that it died because of old-age related ailments yesterday.

The bear, Reshmi was rescued from a juggler in 2006 and since then she was kept in the national park.

Normally the age of bear under wild conditions is 20-25 years while in the captive environment it survives between 25-30 years.
