Three bears came out of a deep forest

and attacked a tribal man, on way to his field, at Kalma village in Jhalda, 70 km from here, yesterday.

He could resist the sudden attack by the animals with a sharp weapon which he was carrying, forest department sources said.

The 55-year-old man was admitted to Jhalda Block Hospital by the villagers. He was then shifted to Purulia Sadar Hospital.

The bears fled after they were attacked by the villagers.
