Beary dictionary to be compiled

The Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy has decided to compile a comprehensive Beary-Kannada-English lexicon.

Several writers and professionals participated in a meeting held at the Beary Sahitya Academy Office here yesterday to discuss the proposed Beary Dictionary Project. The meeting was presided over by the Academy President B A Mohammad Haneef.

In his address, he said that the plan was to compile a Beary dictionary within two years and to take up this project as a challenge by putting in determined efforts.

Kannada Scholar B A Vivek Rai said that a strategic planning and efficient training was required to achieve the aim.
 

He said that a core committee with one scholar and four arts graduates could be formed to compile the words.

Various writers and scholars including U P Upadhyaya A V Navada, Abdul Rahiman T, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, Zohra Abbas, Saara Aboobakker, N Ismail and others participated in the meeting. B M Haneef, sub-editor, Sudha Weekly, introduced the topic of discussion.
