Beary language celebration from Oct 3

A week-long programme has been planned by the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasaragod districts of Kerala as part of the Beary language day celebrations beginning on October 3.

A function would be held at the Academy office at Attawar in the city on October 3, followed by programmes at various centres for a week, Academy president Mohammed Hanif, told reporters here today.

The Beary Language Day is being celebrated to commemorate the formation of the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy on October 3, 2007.

District Wakf advisory committee president S M R Rashid would inaugurate the programme.
 

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Janaki S Brahmavar would launch the book sale campaign and Konkani Sahitya Academy president RoyCastelino would release hand bill to promote Beary language, Hanif said.

Various competitions would be organised for students and the public during the week-long programme to be held in three districts from October 3 to 9.

Individuals who had made significant contributions to the Beary language would be honoured during the programme, he said.
