The beautification of Vizhinjam lighthouse here will begin soon under the Union government's ambitious project to develop important lighthouses in the country as tourist spots.
The project was first announced during the visit of then Minister of state for Shipping Milind Deora here in 2013 December after including it in India's first lighthouse tourism policy, a release said here today.
But due to administrative reasons further action had come to a standstill.
The project was revived by Shashi Tharoor M P who took up the matter with Captain A M Surej, Director General of Lighthouse & Lightships who assured that the ground work would begin within couple of months, it said.
