Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today suggested construction of cow shelters close to the garbage dumping yards so that vegetable wastes could be provided to the cattle.

On her fourth successive weekend field inspection as part of her mission of 'prosperous and clean Puducherry', Bedi visited the garbage dumping yard in Kurumbapet village.

Speaking on the occasion, she wanted construction of a shelter for cows close to the yard so that the vegetable wastes, left over of food and other feed could be provided to the cows.

She also directed officials to construct a compound wall around the yard to prevent outsiders from entering it.

The Lt Governor also visited the Industrial Estate at Thattanchavady and the market in Aziz Nagar.

She spent some time with the children enrolled in the 'Bal Swachh Senas' who would be used as messengers to propagate the theme of 'garbage free Puducherry', officials said.
