Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi today hailed the verdict of the Supreme Court upholding death sentence awarded to the convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case.
In her twitter handle, the former IPS officer said, 'Nirbhaya finally gets justice. It was the most gruesome crime."
"Gratitude to all officers and experts who did a perfect investigation...," she said.
Bedi further said, "This is a fit case for judicial, law and police academies."
The Supreme Court dismissed the plea of the three out of the four convicts seeking review of its verdict upholding the death penalty awarded to them in the case.
Nirbhaya was gangraped on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 inside a running bus in south Delhi by six people and severely assaulted before being thrown out on the road. She succumbed to injuries on December 29, 2012.
