Lahane, the father-in-law of the main accused in the case Dr Shivaji Sanap, was admitted to ICU of Beed Civil hospital where his ECG and other tests were conducted in the morning, police said.
The hospital's RMO Dr Ramchandra Giri said the accused was admitted with symptoms of heart pain and he will be referred to the Aurangabad medical college for treatment.
Lahane was a member of the district MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) committee.
The district civil surgeon of Beed had yesterday sought police protection, alleging threat to life from Lahane.
In a letter to the SP, civil surgeon Dr Gauri Rathod said there was a threat to her life from Dr Lahane, following which police had asked concerned district officials to cancel his arms license.
Dr Sanap was arrested on June 2 for allegedly carrying out three illegal abortions.
