The 48-year-old actor, who has six children with long time partner Angelina Jolie, had previously said that he wanted to be a director when he turns 50, reported Sun online.
"It's too much effort. It's too big a job. I'd rather be a dad. It's more fun. Being a father has changed everything for me as far as perspective and interests go. I just want to take care of myself and be around them," he said.
When Pitt is turning his back on movie-making, his daughter Vivienne is taking to the spotlight. Last month it was said that the four-year-old was making her film debut in Disney's "Maleficent". She will reportedly play Jolie's on-screen daughter in the film.
