Ben Affleck receives honorary doctorate

Oscar-winning director Ben Affleck donned a traditional cap and gown as he was handed an honorary doctorate from one of America's most prestigious universities.

The 'Argo' director beamed with pride as he was awarded a fine arts degree from Rhode Island's Brown University in recognition of his acting and filmmaking career, reported E! online.

Affleck punched the air with delight as he received the honour and gave a speech to his fellow graduates.

Others who received honorary doctorates were author and MIT Professor Junot Diaz, retired Stanford University bacteriologist Stanley Falkow, Tougaloo College President Beverly Wade Hogan, medical doctor and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation President Risa Lavizzo-Mourey and Miami Dade College President Eduardo Padron.
 

Hollywood action star Bruce Willis' daughter Scout, by ex-wife Demi Moore, also graduated from the establishment and the actor's wife Emma Heming-Willis took to her Twitter page to applaud her stepdaughter.

In a post, she writes, "Congrats to Scout who graduated from Brown today. Proud day.
